VDL Wildlife Friendly Solar Bollard

Our wildlife friendly solar powered bollards are an innovative adaptation of the original product. But it’s now featuring a design that caters specifically to the needs of wildlife conservation. Traditional lighting bollards can have a detrimental impact on various species such as sea turtles, bats, frogs, and numerous insects, especially in coastal areas. Sea turtles, for instance, rely on the lighting from the moon reflecting off the ocean to navigate. However, artificial lighting from nearby developments can easily be mistaken for moonlight, leading to the disorientation of these nesting turtles.

To combat this issue, wildlife friendly lighting has been engineered to minimise such ecological disruptions. Our nature lighting is carefully shielded, positioned low to the ground, and uses low-wattage bulbs. It emits light at a wavelength of 560 nanometres or higher. To human eyes, this solar bollard light appears amber, yet it remains largely invisible to most wildlife, ensuring that their natural behaviours are not disturbed.
